A different perspective on price gouging

I believe in the free market but many of these gun shops will need the support of the community and their "regulars" to keep them a float in the future. People will remember those who chose short term greed.

I can understand $35 pmags in a time like this but $60-$70 you won't ever see my business.

No they won't. When it goes back to the old normal or a new normal is created the same folks whining and crying will be beating the door down at these LGS if they have some deal that will save them a dollar.

I do not have a problem with people selling their ARs for an inflated price. What I have a problem with is people clearing out the shelves at the retail shops to turn around and sell it on here. We have done a decent job of keeping it off here. You can use your gold example but it is apples to oranges.

Senator Feinstein has stated the previous AWB worked because it drove up the prices where everyday people can not afford to own them. Think about this for a minute here.

Now picture this scenario.

A family of 4 with an income of $45,000. A father would like to spend quality time with his children doing the things he did as a child. A family outing to a gun range is very fun to do. So he loads up his old heirloom rifles and pistols and heads down to a retail ammo store. He gets there right as they open to get the most out of his day at the range. However, some "dealer" "trying to stay in business" is there and cleans out the shelves. He then states that his shop will be selling this ammo at 4 to 5 times the price.

The father now realizes that he can not afford to take his family to the gun range. Since he can no longer afford it, why should he bother with keeping the right to bear arms. He now is in the mid set that if he can no longer own and shoot firearms, why should anyone else. So when the time comes, he actively supports all gun control measures put in place. We have now lost a law abiding citizen that would support the right to bear arms to the bad guys that want to strip our rights.

People that are doing the price gouging are now self fulfilling a gun ban prophecy.


Also we are a community here. believe each and every one of you is my family. Family has fights but they will also come to the defense of the family. I would never price gouge my family. If I was going to price gouge, there are plenty of national forums where I can do that if I choose.

This is far reaching. I know several families that can not afford to shoot and I know families that don't even own weapons and they are not going to give up their 2A rights.

If people pay it? That is free enterprise. Otherwise, it is whining from people who cannot afford it at the market price.

Really? I agree with the prices of ammo keeping people from shooting as much but this took a while to dream up. My 6 year old daughter got a new 22 rifle for christmas and we're already getting low on ammo so we will be affected by this ammo shortage and price increase. So now we're giving up our 2A rights altogether and supporting a gun ban? C'mon man

Yes its free enterprise, but its scumbag free enterprise.

I'm glad you guys can afford the market, but the vast majority of 2A supporters and most the people on the board are middle to low income. If you don't believe the market will price many people, that can no longer afford to shoot guns, out of 100℅ 2A support , you are truly buying fools gold.

The phrase "price gouging" makes me want to whistle beef. No true capitalist or freedom loving person would be caught dead using it. "Price gouging" used to be referred to as supply and demand. You certainly cant complain about "price gouging" and not complain about the lack of tort reform. Just to ask for the sake of asking: what is the arbitrary # of posts and/or activity that qualifies as not being here "just to make a profit"? I thought it was 20...

I didn't say I was buying at inflated prices or that I can afford the current market. You didn't see me buying an AR at Fatboy tacticle the other day did you?
Yes I did sell my friend some AR mags 6 for $140(4 new, 2 ex cond) he understands the market and the climate.
And he knows that I've been harping on him to buy for a long time. It's not my fault he chose to wait 2 years.
