I can't speak specifically on the 6.5 but I've killed a bunch of hogs and deer with the 162 amax from a 7wsm. I've always steered clear of bone and quartering shots, with that said I've had great luck with them. They do "blow up" at close range but expand well at extended range. Never lost an animal while running them. Closest shot was a hog at ~30yds and farther shot 760yds on a big boar.

Results are in.
1) 129 SST from 110 yards high neck shot - tiny entrance hole, spine and muscles completely severed, the head was hanging by the skin. I would say it performed no different on bone than Interbond.
2) 123 A-Max from 360 yards double lung - the bullet expanded immediately seen by 3/4" entrance hole, exit hole is a golfball as advertised. I wouldn't use this bullet on bone shots (quartering, double shoulder, neck, etc).

Hopefully before season is over I'll have some real world data on 178 gr AMAX for ya
