Alright, so I drive about 90 miles a day commuting and I bought a 99 Accord that is in great shape, 5 speed, does as good as I need it to on fuel. The only problem is it does not have factory cruise control. Does anyone have experience with aftermarket cruise control? Are they difficult to install? I'm pretty handy, but have never done it and would like to hear from anyone who has or know someone that can. I found a place in the city that will install it, but they are wanting over $400 which I thought was a bit excessive but I could be way off.

And no, the answer is not to sell it and buy a car with cruise because the deal I got on this one was too good, even without cruise.

I bought and installed one for my 2012 Focus a couple of months ago.

Since the Focus is Fly-By-Wire the installation was a breeze. Unhook the throttle sending unit and put the Cruise Control in it's place, replace the ODBII connector and splice 1 wire into the clutch (I have manual transmission). Ground and 12V switched power source and that was it. The hardest part was taking the shroud off of the steering wheel to mount the stalk.

The unit I bought had a link to the instructions. I looked it over before I purchased it. I intended to have someone install it and was quoted $175 . . I decided that was way too much for that simple of an install.

Did it myself in about an hour.

Had an 82 Toyota I bought new and installed an aftermarket cruise. Took about 3 hours. Running wires through the firewall may be tricky. I just pulled back the carpet and drilled a new hole then caulked it up with silicone after I'd run the wires. Be sure you wrap the wires to prevent them getting cut there.
