Beautiful! Wife and I are looking for our next vacation...would like to get details or a bit more info on your trip.. Alaska is one place we've never visited.
Just ask away. Its our second Alaska cruise. We are certainly going back, but next time its going to be all land and no sea other than day excursions. A lot of travel will be by rail. The Alaska Railroad has it down to an art. We took the leg from Anchorage to Seward. Had a great dining car where you were taken in order by the car you were in. When some got through, and tables were cleaned, others were brought in. Food was prepared on the train and was fresh. If you wanted snacks, soft drinks, beer, there was another car for that. Kind of a come and go with some really big windows for viewing. There was a naturalist that pointed out scenic views and gave some of the area history in narration style over the intercom. The same trip via bus is 2 hours. The train rarely exceeded 30mph, making the trip about 4.5 hours. Very smooth ride.

Nice, Dennis! Any more wildlife?
I got pics, but most were so far off, it was hard to pick them out. We saw the sitka deer while cruising the coast line on an excursion boat looking for coastal brown bears that come to the beaches at low tide. Saw Mountain goat, but they were just specks even with a 300mm lens. The next trip inland will prove to be more of a wildlife tour.

Cool pics

When I was 16 a cuz and I drove up there.

We lived in Anchorage for a while in the seventies. Dad worked on the slope for years until he retired.

I took an inside passage cruise with the family last week. Fished in Ketchikan on Thursday. Alaska was amazing! I would like to go back and go on a moose hunt.
I like Ketchikan. It does get 12-15 feet of rain a year though. That's where we saw the most fish caught. I wanted to go out on one of the boats, but wife had other plans for me.

Great photos Dennis, if you have others and have the time, would you post some more?

We will be making our one-way trip to Anchorage in about 45 days. Going to be a LONG 3500 mile drive, but I can't hardly wait to get started.
