cvrx4 - The dam is getting repaired during the hottest part of the year because it is the driest part of the year. Little rainfall equates to less chance of rain messing up the construction process. You build farm ponds the driest months of the year.

Deer Slayer, you beat me to it. The rains can delay work, and can cause damage to work already completed before vegetation has had a chance to cover the bare ground.

Makes sense and when I was a child my grandpa did the same. I always thought it was because he had free child labor for a week (my cousins and I ).

Does anyone know know for certain what the construction is going to accomplish? I know the lake was taken way down a couple of years back for repairs to the dam.

I know for certain that the dam repairs have not been done. The construction company is starting the repair of the dam on Monday after July 4th. The contract period is 60 days. The lake will be closed to access during the repair. When the lake will re open to the public is unknown. I will make an announcement when it does. It is going to be a long while.

Went to Elmer this weekend. Most of the lake is around 4ft deep, I was tube fishing and had a fairly easy time getting about. Caught a pretty good sized catfish. All of the additions are going to be great when the water levels rise.
