You have everything to do with whether or not it continues though, no?
I agree with Pablo here. It's probably just semantics, but I take pride in things I'm responsible for being a part of and my accomplishments. Being born in this nation is just pure dumb luck on our part. I've always felt as though "Lucky to be an American" would be a more appropriate phrase.

Pride is a very slippery slope. Hitler pushed...demanded...pride in Germany. To call that toxic is an understatement.

This is coming from a combat veteran who would gladly do it all again to defend my nation if necessary. I am proud that I served my country.

Patriotism at historic low? Well not at my house, my street, my city, my county and my state. We love God and country and we brag about it.

You can't compare living in Coalgate Okla to a large swath of the country , I have traveled and worked in places in this country where putting an American flag in your front yard or on your car is a sure fire way to get it vandalized. Small town Oklahoma , Texas or Kansas is a vastly different place than many larger urban areas in the US .

I’m not sure one flies on campus of that liberal institution.

Seems there's a glass house with your name on it....

Agreed. My job has allowed me to travel a lot to large cities all across this country. Every thing started about 10 or 12 years ago. Just a small thing that turned into an avalanche in a blink of an eye. Never thought having a rebel flag would be a crime. Seems no one considers that the South did exist and the war had almost nothing to do about freeing the slaves.
I really think, and support, anyone that would disgrace the flag during our parade, would have a mud hole stomped in him and no one would get charged. It just don't work here.

I wish democrats would do what they often say they'll do when things don't go their way, just leave and don't come back . Move to Cuba , Nicaragua or whatever socialist haven tickles your back side and experience the joys of socialism first hand . Renounce your citizenship while you're at it so its harder for you to ever come back to the United States and don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you .

I'm patriotic as far as being an American, being an Okie even more so.
Dumbasses that believe the United States is nothing but White supremacy dictatorship are idiots. Dumbasses that blindly accept our government as being righteous are equal to them.

Our Founders didn't buy into blind patriotism, in fact they had a volatile distrust of government. The problem with conservatives is they tend to latch onto "the other side is critical so the good side is patriotic", which is an oversimplification of the situation. Probably suits our current level of education and attention in most cases I suppose.
