I'm looking for a little input, she wants one but curious about a few things.
I can get a M&P 15 Sport shipped for $529, which I think is a pretty good price but it has no dust cover or forward assist.

How much of a big deal would the lack of a dust cover be? She'll be target and plinking with it, no hunting, it won't be out in the woods, just the range and the typical OK environment, which can get dusty....
Not too worried about the forward assist, I have one on the Stag I have and have yet to use it. She won't be sneaking through the house trying to chamber a round quietly either.

Any other suggestions on an AR, at a reasonable price ($529 is reasonable, maybe between $600-650).
Not real interested in building one (time and willingness constraints) and she's not going to do that either.
Thanks.

I love Palmetto State. Their prices keep up with the market too. I believe their premium line is better speced products than the economy line of the bigger names. I believe the M&P Sport Barrels are 4140 Steel in 1:9 twist. Those are plenty good for most of us shooters. Most of their stuff is available assembled too.
Just have them ship the lower to Sooner State Pawn for the $10 transfer and the upper to your house.

I would add:

Flip up Rear Sight:

If you wanted to push it up to 699.99 Colt 6.5 lb CSR-1516 Light Carbine is 699.99 at CDNN and they will include an AR-15 Mag pack 4-30 round and 1-40 round.

I have seen sales on bushmasters, and others. Prices seem to be dropping.

The Smith will work for her purposes, but you can have a nicer rifle for the same or less money if you go with a PSA upper and put your own lower together. Also BCM has a great deal going where you get a free BCG and compensator if you buy an upper.
