You can create term limits,or you can leave the constitution the hell alone, but you can't do both.

I think one way to handle those people is to stop reelecting them. By that I don't mean that we elect the other party. The way I see it, during the primaries, we vote for the challenger. This way we stay within the ideology we prefer and at the same time we get rid of the professional politicians who are owned by the special interests.
One example is corn ethanol, one of the dumbest ways to waste tax money and hurt the tax payer by forcing him to use an inferior fuel, not to mention other negatives. Will the new Congress stop giving billions to the multibillion dollar corporations that produce ethanol? I doubt it, the old guard that got paid off, will make sure that if anything they will increase the subsidies.
We have to find a way for the people to win not the politicians.

You mean we can have term limits simply by voting them out on our own.:wink2:
Inconceivable.

You just don't get it do you?

The republicans held both the house AND senate AND the WH from 2000-2006 and yet they couldn't deliver on their promises.

Lower the deficit? NO
Smaller government? NO
Win the war on terror? NO

The democrats held both the house AND the senate AND the WH from 2009-2010 and they couldn't deliver on their promises.

Fix the economy? NO
Get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan? NO
Close Gitmo? NO

It's a bi-partisan failure of leadership cause it's not about leadership.

It's about POWER.

This.

Republicans and Democrats have a lot in common. Their only real difference is their method.

It's like I've said in many other threads: Democrats want to control the People economically, while Republicans want to control the People socially. This is reflected in their choices on where to increase spending.

I agree with the original post and most of the others. The one thing that I will have to disagree with, is the notion that gridlock is a bad thing. The problem that so many have eluded to, that we need spending restraint, really implies, quit spending our money. I honestly cannot think of a single new item/law that we need. I can think of a lot of laws and programs that need to be eliminated. The only bipartisanship that I'm interested in, is repealing some these. Smaller federal gov't, period. Any new law that they want, 10 have to be eliminated. I cannot even think of a reason that they need to be in session more than 3 weeks out of the year. Unless your an invalid, if you don't earn it yourself, you don't need it. If you can't afford food, hey, we will finally have skinny poor people.

Jerry, regarding your orig post I have similar thoughts. However..
I honestly dont believe anybody in Washington, repub or demo could give a rip what any of us think..
A number of folks here think we need bi party co operation to get things done. I dont, the reason is there is a lot of s**t goin on in this country that is black and white, right and wrong and you are not going to get a bunch of Nancy Pelosi, Barak Hussien types to do what is right.
Then the repub's, they had years to do something recently and they sat on thier butts and did nothing and got voted out! Then we got Barak and Nancy.
I know this, my wife and I both work long hard hours to EARN a living.
Between the cost of living, insurance, gas, utilities and taxes there aint much left to spend or save.
I dont shoot competition any more, cant afford it..
I want my tax dollars to stop going to the people, generations of them, on welfare, food stamps, sec 8 public housing and free cell phones..
People who will not work by choice cause the government will not pull the tit out of thier mouth and tell them " if you dont work, you will not eat"! T.P.

Well said, GTG! I copied and pasted several of them as e-mails to my representatives. I'll probably send one to my mother-in-law just to throw her for a loop and the kid at 7-11 who doesn't know how to count back change. That'll teach 'em!!!! :D
