Anti-gun California state Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco) and contender for the Golden State's California Secretary of State was arrested at his home Wednesday morning by FBI Agents and indicted on charges of public corruption and bribery. According to CBS News, the raids were targeting corruption and gang activity.

Yee gained notoriety as an anti-gunner by attempting to ban the "bullet button". The bullet button was an approved measure by the State's Department of Justice to allow law-abiding gun owners to comply with California's draconian gun laws. It requires that a tool must be used to detach a magazine from a semiautomatic rifle.

Ironically, one of the charges against Yee is alleged arms trafficking.

Earlier this month state Senators Ron Calderon and Rod Wright were indicted on corruption charges and forced to take a leave of absence. Yee's arrest may make it hard for the anti-gun democrats to regain control of the California State Senate.

Derek Cressman, an opponent of Yee’s in the race for California Secretary of State, told a weekly San Francisco paper, "We are clearly beyond the point of looking at one bad apple and instead looking at a corrupt institution in the California senate. The constant begging for campaign cash clearly has a corrosive effect on a person's soul and the only solution is to get big money out of our politics once and for all."

This is not Yee's first brush with the law. The Senator has faced numerous accusations of misconduct or outright criminal activity throughout his career. According to the San Francisco Chronicle he was twice pulled over in 1999 on suspicion of soliciting prostitutes. He said at the time that those were incidents of mistaken identity, and no charges were ever filed.

Yee was arrested in 1992 for shoplifting an 8 ounce bottle of suntan lotion from an ABC store in Hawaii when he was serving as a member of the School Board.

Yee will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. in a San Francisco federal court,

Whenever you run across these articles of Yee, notice how many of them "OMIT" the fact that Yee is a D-E-M-O-C-R-A-T. The article I linked will probably one of the few that did say the he was a dem.

I'm not surprised by his actions, but am thrilled he is out of office. This will actually break the dems supermajority in Congress, although the idiot voters will surely elect another dem..... Calguns has been going crazy over this all day.
