Lamp oil seems to burn cleaner than kerosene and has a lot less odor. Just heard Walmart has a scented lamp oil which might be best for in the house when the power goes out.

Neat lantern. I had a couple of those when I was a kid. Camping out in the back yard with a pup tent, a sleeping bag, and a lantern.
Now, if I'm camping out, it is in a 38 foot fifth wheel with a Select Comfort mattress and A/C.
