Was curious if anyone anneals their brass, and if so what benefits do you see? how you do it? Etc.

Thinking about trying it for my .308, just not sure if it would be worth the extra time.

Sent from my T.A.R.D.I.S. using a Sonic Screwdriver.

I have one of these: http://cartridgeanneal.com/ I've only used it for a couple of hundred .45-70 rounds, but am very pleased with the ease of operation and the results. One can do it a lot of ways, but this thing makes for accurate repeatability.

I anneal after every third firing. I chuck the brass in my K&M shell holder attached to a cordless drill. I don't do it necessarily for case longevity although I believe it does but I do it for more consistent neck tension. It's lowered my ES and SD. All brass gets annealed after the manufacturing process. Some manufactures polish the discoloration off and others don't.

Just a comment on MoBoost's statement that " I don't water drop since there is no reason to."
Perhaps I am misunderstanding what he means. But if you heat your brass and then let it cool slowly.....you are hardening your brass. As I am sure that most of you know, brass must be rapid quenched to soften. Not quite like steel, where you let it slow cool to anneal.
