Wolf creek is nice, so is Angel fire. Never been to Ruidoso. It is smaller so it probably will be less crowded. I recommend Durango. You can stay at Spanish trails for 30 a night and travel up to the mountain in the morning

If you are going spring break, go to Wolf Creek no question. Especially if you are planning ahead, who wants to pre pay everything and find out your NM ski resorts are icy in the mornings and slushy in afternoons. Twice I know that too have been the case in NM. It may have changed, but about 2004 Taos didn't allow snow boarding. Wolf Creek on average gets more snow than any other resort. It isn't that much further than NM. There prices are very competitive.

I went to Ruidoso for a snowboard trip several years back. Entire mountain was icy. We went to Sipapu, NM last year and had a great time. Its just a few miles down the road from Taos and not to mention its dirtcheap compared to other places. However the mountain Sipapu is located on is quite a bit smaller than Wolf Creek and the place we went in Ruidoso.

Taos now allows Snowboards.

If I had to rank my enjoyment of the mountain for my 3 trips over the years as a snowboarder, it would be like this:

#1 Wolf Creek
#2 Sipapu
#3 Reserved
#4 Reserved
#5 Ruidoso

Enjoyment based on $
#1 Sipapu
#2
#3 Wolf Creek
#4 Ruidoso

I've never been snowboarding, but I agree with Durango. I grew up in NM, and we used to go up to Durango for snowmobiling, it's BEAUTIFUL country. My wife's family are skiers and the only place they go is Purgatory.

In the woods...between OKC & Tulsa
I've skied every year since 1976, when I lived in Europe. Going next week to Steamboat Springs, CO - never been there yet!
Wolf Creek is where I have been the most...Love it! They usually have A LOT MORE SNOW than anywhere else.
In the US, also been to Durango many times - excellent!
Angel Fire, NM - went there last year, had great snow and a great time!
Always wanted to try Ruidosa, just never made it. They usually didn't have enough snow for me.
I remember several years back, we stayed in Glorieta, NM to ski in Santa Fe. They had 2 runs open. Never went there...
Drove 3 1/2 hours more and skied Wolf Creek - they were 100% open! Made for a long day getting back to NM!

I rank snow skiing right up there with breathing oxygen...necessary for survival!
Have fun regardless of where you go!
