Anyone Bird Hunting Tomorrow

Hunted hard Saturday and Sunday covered a lot of ground (private land near Quinlan,OK). Only covey we got into was literally less than a minute after turning him out. I was putting up tailgate when I noticed he hadn't gone very far from the truck before locking up. He turns one on Wednesday so this is his first quail season. Bc of him I've been way more excited for quail than deer this year. Hearing good things about the bird numbers at packsaddle and black kettle so I'm probably gonna give those a try.

Any other OK public land quail hunting recommendations?

Went out Saturday in beaver county with the old lady's dad. Had a great time, ran across 6 coveys, only got 4 to flush, it's so dry up there that they start running before we can flush them. Hunted public and private land.

First stop of the day while unloading the dogs we had a 10 point Muley walk within 50 yards of us chasing a doe, didn't even see us! That was something else.

I finally got to head out west and had an awesome trip. We found 23 covey! Hunted Beaver, Packsaddle, and private land around Ft. Supply, we haven't seen birds like this in about 14 years and it can only get better. At least until the next drought. Here's a picture of todays hunt.

Haven't done the calculations, but my digital pedometer said we walked 13,987 steps before noon. Great exercise, but I'll be slow moving around tomorrow.

23!!?? That's freakin crazy. You got into birds at each stop? Would you say any one of the public spots was better than others? Supposed to be heading out west again Thursday.

Congrats on all the birds. I'm sure seeing that many birds had to be an absolute blast. Like the good ol days I keep hearing about. Heck, that's about 3 years worth of good dog experience right there.
