everytime I think of someone buying a used black and white. I think of The Blues Brothers.

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say, is it the new Bluesmobile or what?

So they are priced from like 17k and up, according to the website. Isn't that a bit high for a police trade-in?

ANything over 5k for a BEAT UP ex-cruiser of any make is outrageous!

At minimum there will be a transmission replacement, probably entire head and manifold section, possible pistons and sleeves, better off just getting a great frame and body and dropping a crate motor and tranny in for 5-8k for literally ANY GAS BURNING I.C. ENGINE!

Diesel Crate motors are a whole different ballgame but I digress, go to www.jegs.com enter make and model and look up a crate motor for YOUR vehicle, then go to http://www.monstertransmissions.com/ when it comes to $ and cents will almost always be cheaper to get a new crate and tranny for your rig, as long as the frame, body and interior are 95% or better.

By the way I am not affiliated with either of those sites, I just recently got a new transmission for when mine goes, and am in the process of saving for a new 454 big block from JEGS. I am in it to get people to save those late model cars!

My thoughts exactly. Anyone who would pay more than $3000 for a car that's been driven like hell, is only asking for trouble. I don't care how fast it is. The question you'd better be asking yourself is "how deep are my pockets" because that car is going to have multiple issues. If that wasn't the cause, why would they be selling it?

I want a cop Tahoe.

I have wanted one as well but again they want WAY too much for them just for being the police package which is easily attained by lowering the rear end for an even level instead of the forward rake, and beefing up the suspension on a 2500 series Tahoe or Suburban.

Interesting fact the Suburban is the only SUV with a GVW over 6,500 pounds to be classified as a pursuit vehicle, this is why I absolutely love Suburbans. That and the 2500 series are dang near indestructible.

Dang, you can tell the column shifter was an afterthought with it sitting at 1 o'clock when in park. What is that remnant between the seats? Whats left of the center console? If you was going to buy an excop car, I'd deal with a highway patrol vehicle rather than a city car. Both probably had their oil changed every 3-5k, but a trooper vehicle would have mostly highway miles and probably less curb hopping.
My Caprice is an ex OHP, and the only thing that gave me problems was the transmission, but B Bodies are known for weak trans, especially if you run them hard. My buddy bought a 95 TPD car and had nothing but problems with his.
