What a bunch of granolas. THey held a vigil for an elk that wandered into town and a cop shot it. Then his buddy (an off-duty officer) loaded it into the back of a truck. I don't know anything other than that. the two officers are on leave. Questions of poaching aside, a candlelight vigil to remember and honor the elk? give me a friggin break.

Not only to honor, but grieve and find closure about this senseless slaying. good god.

Don't they know that an elk could sneek into their crops and eat all their weed? then they would want to shoot the damn elk themselves!

Hey, a lot of those people were close family/friends with the elk. He is survived by 6 random female elk that he got busy with and 17 potential children. We'll never know because, hey, nature.

Here's a more detailed story. I am sure these crazies would be singing a different tune had that Bull Elk gotten spooked and gored a 2 year old. But it was their "guardian".

My wife's uncle was a local cop for 30 years. He was telling me about how in the 80s they had skunk contests. They would drive around town on patrol with scatterguns at the ready and shoot skunks. Whoever got the most that night won. He told us about one time when they shot one at an apartment building in July at 3 am. All the tenants had their windows open and it stunk to high heaven. The car that took the report was the same cops that shot the damn thing!

I left it Colorado when I left in 96.

By the way, one time when I was in Evergreen (west of Denver about 15 miles), We were in a bakery and my 8 year old sister was messing with a fake tree in the corner. Some granola walked over and "hey, be cool with the tree man." That is still a running gag in my family. Happened about 22 years ago. It was a fake damn tree!
