Are there any restrictions on AR15s as far as building a new receiver as a pistol, or a rifle, or making it back into a pistol after it was a rifle? Or just need to comply with NFA?
As far as I understand it, you can't make a rifle a pistol but you can make a pistol a rifle and then a pistol again.

Some people have morals. I do not plan on doing anything illegal.
Unless something has changed , It's just another rule the feds have for the just in case you are caught doing something stupid and happen to have the once rifle then pistol now rifle with you . They check the serial number on the lower to see what it was listed as at the time of purchase. And of course they never let a no knock raid opportunity pass them up.
So if you buy a stripped lower from an individual (no paperwork) to put together a ‘rifle’, are you going to call the dog killers to give them the heads up as to what you’ve done?
Yes, I’m being a little sarcastic but also serious, because I’ve never bought an AR part from a dealer and have no idea what any of mine started out as. I guess since I don’t see the point in AR pistols I probably don’t have anything to worry about.
receivers are cheap. buy one and make sure they check the box as "other" and not rifle and use it for pistol.
I've built a thousand. In oklahoma, If you put a 16 inch+ barrel on it, you can have a stock or brace. If it's less than 16 total inches with just barrel/ pinned or welded muzzle devices, you must have a brace or just a tube and no vertical forward grip on handguard. Switch them around as much as you'd like. Just keep the right parts with the right parts to please the commie atf.
The biggest problem is with the ATF you never know if your legal or illegal cause they keep changing the rules as they see fit when they feel like it. So what is good this morning may not be good this evening.
