Now my knowledge of archery ends if not talking compound bows so if this is an ignorant question I apologize, but with recurve do you use a mechanical release or just those finger rollers?

I just bought a recurve and the guy at the shop said finger gloves are all you use. No release because there is too much tension for one.

Yes, no clip on release for recurve. A finger tab or the rollers if already on the string. If using a tab or fingers glove, be careful not to grip the nock on the arrow when drawing.
