I have allowed myself get sucked into trying to find out WHY?
I attempted to purchased a Benchmade knife at Optics Planet.
Benchmade Autocrat Automatic Folding Knife, 3.71in
That description says folding but it is OTF.
I get an email telling me the order was on HOLD until I sent in some paper work.
I don't mean to leave things out but to keep this short, their paper work says this knife is not available for sale to the general public.
I feel I have researched Oklahoma knife laws and the way I read it, since 2017 we can carry/own any kind of knife.
It may be a matter of how or who it is SHIPPED to. That should be easy but I'm not finding easy.
I have filled out the Certification Agreement and emailed back to them with but they canceled the order.
Here is what they want;
Please note product code: 79-KN3-AAFK-3400BK is unfortunately not available to the general public. The laws surrounding automatic knives are complex, and vary widely from state to state, and even by zip code. That said, according to Federal government regulations we cannot ship these knives across state lines unless we’re shipping to authorized personnel. To verify that you qualify for this exemption, please provide us with the following documents:
===============================================================================
1. Automatic Knife Certification Agreement that can be found at http://images1.opticsplanet.com/pdf/opplanet-knife-compliance-certification-v2pt9.pdf
2. Purchase Order for the above product(s) on Department/ Institution letterhead (Alternatively, you may provide a copy of an official government-issued identification card (indicating your employer or employment status) or an employer-issued identification card (A driver's license is not a valid identification for employment status)).
Is this something I am allowed to purchase or not?
Thoughts would be most welcome.
Michael
