BBQ places in Tulsa (or elsewhere) that are gone

May still be there but I haven't been in many years.

I tried the one in Wagoner once. Pretty good. I got a baked potato with brisket. It was a mountain of brisket on that spud fo sho!

There was a place way out on 71st street East in Tulsa we ate at a couple of times. Hugely popular evidently as the lines were long to get in.
I think it burned, and rebuilt? Great BBQ.
There was a really good Mexican place nearby we ate at once. Ordered a large margarita not knowing it was going to be a quart sized drink.
At the end of the meal, asked the server jokingly if I could get a cup to go for the rest of the drink.
No problem!
He brought out a cup and lid, so off we went to finish it later when getting to the RV park which is further east on 71st out in the country.

Smokies hickory house is the one you’re thinking of. Place has been there a long time, not sure if it ever burned or not. Pretty good place and you are right there is usually a wait. Used to go on east of there to the dam trying to catch catfish, always heard great stories but I never caught anything there.

I liked Franks Country Inn, ate there many times. Never was a fan of Slicks, Mrs Franks down on Emporia street in Muskogee was much better. Long gone now.

You mean you didn't like eating your BBQ off of a sheet if wax paper at Slicks?? As one has already replied....definitely a cultural experience! I never knew about Mrs Franks.

Went to Clark’s last week and it was fantastic.

We went and were underwhelmed after hearing all the positive PR about Clark’s. Brisket had gristle and bone fragments throughout. Water was warm in the glass. Waitress apologized and brought a glass full of ice to add to our drinks. Noticed several tables getting more ice. They are new and probably still trying to get it all together.

Wilson's and a couple others on Apache used to be good. Sadly they're all gone

Haven’t been there is a long time but Stutts BBQ in Tulsa use to be awesome .. think I’ll go try it again it’s been years since I’ve been there

I tried em once. Meh...it was ok.

Same here on both counts.

As for good BBQ joints that are no more, how about the original Bob’s in Ada? People used to fly in to get some of Bob’s BBQ.
