I think the dude that poached the BP trophy buck down south a couple of years ago got busted in part because he snapped a cell phone picture of the kill. The coordinates attached to his image file placed him in a protected area at a certain date & time.

I couldnt find the Blackberry link, can ya help me out?

From the article:
........in your iPhones it is under Settings > General > Location Services from there you can tell it what apps can access location data.

In your BlackBerry – Go into picture-taking mode (via HomeScreen, click icon “Camera”), press the Menu button and choose “Options”. Set the “Geotagging” setting to be “Disabled”. Finally, save the updated settings.

In Android go to the camera > Settings > GPS and make sure the check box is off.

imgur.com will strip all of the data in question. you don't have an option... imgur isn't going to store it, period.

I think FaceBook strips it now as well.

IIRC they used the number on a pole in the background of the photo to track him down.
