If your a novice I’d recommend the Zebco bullet. You’ll enjoy fishing more I have about 15 poles living at the lake I’d don’t give kid or rookies my spin or bait casters. I use one all the time anymore.

There’s time to learn. Zebco has went far beyond the 33 and omega pros with this on, good for general fishing both spin and bait. The gear ratio is about perfect.

Unless your going after the state record that is.

My understanding is the bullet has a gear ratio unique to spincast/thumb-button type reels. Faster rate of retrieval makes for better ability to run different types of lures (still not near as fast as what baitcasters can do). They come in kinda steep on price though at $100. The omega pro is still a nice spin cast too (have a couple for my boy). The new 33s are junk IMO. Lots of folks don’t realize the cheap spincast reels usually have a gear ratio so slow they’re really only suited for just bobber fishing. Can’t barely retrieve fast enough to work the tail on a 2” curly tail grub

Don't know that there really is a best. There is a cost more, There is a this holds more string. But as far as the best? I don't know, they all work. Even then cheaper ones.

Meh, there’s definitely a difference. When you fish often those cheap reels wear out in a season or two. I’ll buy cheaper reels for catfish and carp rods where it’s just plunking baits out and letting them sit. But for a bass/sandbass/saugeye/crappie rig where I’m constantly casting and retrieving I like a nicer reel. Plenty of spinning reels in the $100-$150 range will hold up to years of hard use and still feel buttery smooth enjoyable to use.

Line capacity, lbs of drag, smoothness of drag, gear ratio, weight, handle shape, physical size/bslance, main frame construction material, bearing quality.. Is it salt water capable for that occasional trip to the gulf? Bait clicker? Braid ready spool? Are the colors purdy lol? Plenty of things to consider in a reel and cheapos do suck

If you’re going to go cheap somewhere do it more so on the rod IMO. Plenty of rods in the $20-$50 price will be fine. Closer to the $50 range and they’ll start feeling nicer in your hand.

Sorry for the long post in here but I just love talking fishing stuff ha..
