Scary thing is, you don't need a plane to deliver a massive dose of biological weaponry. You don't need a plane to deliver a massive dose of chemical weaponry.
One person - one - with a smidgen of education, and the right chemicals/bioweapons could create a situation that would overflow ever hospital in the city targeted.
All this BS about protecting us from some of the "terrorists" is just an excuse to further erode rights and privacy.
Anyone with a hint of knowledge of haz-mat/bioterror possibilities know we are vulnerable, and there's really not much anyone can do about it.

This was written years ago, but it still applies. Chem/bio is not the mass casualty threat many make it out to be (usually because of other motives like profit and control).

What the guy says leaves out an important part - although the subway was an "ideal condition" for the gas attack - the attackers didn't get proper dispersal. I'm hardly a doom and gloom kinda guy when it comes to this stuff, but there's plenty of opportunity for an evil intentioned person(s) to carry out a chemical attack, and create the "thousands" of casualties.
Hillbillies mailing anthrax, and ill-prepared Ricin/or Sarin attacks may leave folks feeling smug about the limited capabilities of such an attack.
A chemistry student, a medical student, and a mechanic. It won't require an airplane.

The scary part in that scenario is that we have no leadership to make that decision and the terrorists know it.

The PR.... Oh no, he wouldn't. But V, no not him. How about ?, crap, no not them. Well there's .... Nope

Holy shiite, we in a heap of trouble, for sure.

Hmmm.... From another thread.

Captured Syrian pilots are training ICIS.

The Islamic State has claimed on social media that it is utilizing captured Syrian pilots to learn how to fly stolen jets, according to a CNN Arabic report over the weekend. The Syrian pilots, which are part of the Syrian Armed Forces loyal to president Bashar al-Assad, had been captured after the Islamic State seized Tabqa airbase in Raqqa, Syria.

I agree that there is still a possibility, but the key is that it is very difficult to pull off, so difficult in fact that most groups will choose simpler, more guaranteed methods.

In fact the "failed" (didn't fail for those who were affected) Tokyo attack shows how hard it is...proper dispersal being a heavily weighted factor. All that time, effort, planning and expenditure of funds for what effect?

Still something to prepare for I guess, but within reason.
