Ok ... well ... if it doesn't get cold the bugs will be unbearable next year so ok ... Cold ... but NO ICE ... :)

Its a misconception that a hard winter will deplete bugs. Go to Michigan. The ticks and skeeters will make you look for a gun to kill yourself. They have lots of sub zero temps that last for months.

It doesn't hurt to have a warm spell to get them going, and a hard cold spell to kill them, but they will still be there.

I didn't say "ticks and skeeters" ... I said "bugs" ... and I didn't say nuthin' about needing a hard winter to make them extinct ... Sheesh ...

Yes sir. Weird as hell I know but have some around my house and have some on a couple of lease places we run cattle on. The coons and opossums love my yard and my heelers go nuts.

I need to try to transplant some around here then, haven't seen any really west of Osage Co up here. They definitely attract critters and deer.

As far as insects and the cold, I've got a friend who made a trip just SE of Pt. Barrow, Alaska to hunt caribou...................and was unprepared for the flying bugs!

There's a TON of them out at Oklahoma City Gun Club ...

I'd like to try my hand at rooting some cuttings off some sand plum trees ...
