* I am a holster junkie. I like holsters, and mag pouches. I like leather holsters and I like Kydex holsters. I like leather and Kydex hybrid holsters too. I don't know why I like holsters so much, but I just do. All my pistols have more than one holster to ride in, some have several. My M11 A1 now has 5 holsters from which to choose. So...with that disclaimer out of the way, here's my impression of yet another $90 piece of molded plastic, with 2 small leather pieces attached.

I just picked this holster up for my Sig M11 A1, a Mini-Wing IWB from Black Point Tactical. Sig sells these on their website, but you can find them elsewhere as well. I found this one, new in box, on eBay and thought to myself, " I don't have one of these get-ups, but Sig likes 'em enough to put 'em on their website so they have to be top quality".

Well, here's my impressions on the holster itself. It's nicely made, and adjustable for both cant and ride height, and all edges are well finished. The molding to the pistol is very good. There is no slip or wobble to the gun once it's inserted. It clicks in; and it clicks out, just like a Kydex holster will do. You can tell that this holster is not made in some guy's garage, it's a very well manufactured item that is made with good equipment and good materials. The Kydex itself appears to be about 0.80 thickness, strong enough to be...well, strong, but still, very thin to aid in concealment. The offset wings are leather, and they flex as you move, making the holster a bit more comfortable than many other IWB Kydex holsters. And you can flip the wings around to give you even more options as far as height and angle if you like. They even give you an extra set of Kydex clips, and some extra hardware to go along with it. Bonus! The clips themselves seem to be sturdy buggers too. They are precisely fitted to a 1.5" belt and they do get a good bite when you clip them on. No real concerns about drawing my pistol and the holster comes out along with it. It would be very difficult to do with this rig, I feel confident that the holster is going to stay firmly attached to my belt until I physically reach down there and un-clip them. It is as secure as belt loops? No. They are just clips, after all, but they seem like they will do a fine job of keeping the holster attached to your belt.

So I set it up to my liking and strapped it on for awhile. Not bad; not bad at all. It holds the pistol in nice and tight as it should, and I really like the adjustability of this holster. I could feel the flex in the wings as I walked around, stooping, standing, strutting...whatever I did, the holster really did flex a little bit and moved with me, not digging into my side or hip or bothering me anymore than one would expect to be bothered by having a chunk of Kydex and pistol stuffed inside your pants. So; it holds the gun well. It's thin, yet sturdily built. It's very adjustable. It's as flexible as a Kydex holster can be, thanks to those little tabs of leather called wings. It's comfortable. Is it as comfortable as a good leather IWB holster? No. It's still a hunk of hard plastic and there is just so much you can do with that. It's nowhere near as comfortable as the UBG Canute that I had made for this pistol for sure. So why buy it? it would be a great rig to wear if I was going to be getting wet. Leather holsters in general don't hold up well if you soak 'em down. They tend to lose their shape and thus, their retention once you get them really wet. This thing is easy to clip on and clip off. It's...it's a holster, so I bought it. Would I buy it again now that I have worn it? Yes. But not for $90; I'd buy it again for $50 again though. Maybe even $60. The thing is a steal at that price.

In my opinion, it's every bit as good or better than any other dual-clip or dual loop Kydex IWB holster out there. I'm suffering no buyer's remorse over this purchase. The Mini Wing IWB by Black Point tactical doesn't suck. But I still like leather better, all things considered. here's a couple of obligatory pics;

I have a Black Point Tactical chest holster for my woods P220. I've worn chest holsters when back packing for several decades. It's very well made -best I've ever had. It carrys my P220 with a light attached.

How about a round of applause for some quality content here on OSA!

@Hawkman and @Snattlerake; Thank you. Thank you very much.

druryj, what position do you carry in? Asking to see what areas and directions it was flexing in.

@Tanis143, for this post regarding my impressions of this holster, I set it up to carry IWB at 3:30. As adjustable as it is, it could also be set to carry AIWB. The M11 A1 is a compact gun about the same size as a Glock 19, although somewhat heavier. I could carry AIWB with it, but I find it better for me to carry this particular pistol IWB at 3:30. (I do carry a J-Frame or my Walther PPS M2 AIWB quite often, but as we know, they are a very much different gun).

* I don't wanna hear a bunch of noise from the peanut gallery all about how I need to be consistent in my EDC, as I know some prefer to carry the same gun the same way in the same holster all the time. "Not I", says the seasoned, wily old Jarhead who is quite comfortable in how and with what he sallies forth armed with on any given day. Besides, to adopt such a method would mean I would have to pick from a wide array of choices as to which firearm and thus, which holster would be the chosen set. What would I do with all these dang holsters and guns that I have then if that were to be the case? Relegate them to recreational status only? No sir; not for me. I have pistols designed for carry; so carry them is what I do.

I too enjoyed the write up and I'm so glad when I got to the pics that the holster wasn't blue. :blush: :bolt:

I was also glad when I opened the package to find that it wasn't blue. In fact, it finally allowed me to get some much needed rest, having agonized over this possibility now for some four days while anxiously awaiting delivery.
