I will show my age.
Take a couple of hoods from a pair of early 50s cars ($10 and the both same make and model) cut the hinge end off square, mate the squared off ends and weld together. Weld all the little trim holes shut and weld the trim pieces on to "customize" the results. Put in a bench and drop it off at the tank you want to fish at. Make sure and turn it upside down when leaving with the paddles under to protect them. Turn over towards you when you went back to fish, this gave the water moccasins time to leave the area. Caution tips very easily.

My best friend, who is sitting next to me and owns a bass boat and a 12' alum, says 1st you must walk into the bathroom with 3 $100 bills. Flush one of them. If that doesnt bug you too much, flush another. If you can flush the 3rd without freaking out, then you will make a good boat owner. On the other hand tho, many good memories can be had in a boat

Bust out another thousand and throw it into the hole in the water....... People who insist on saying that are just haters.

Every hobby costs money. The deeper into he hobby the more money it takes. We love our boat it's great for the family!

I love my boat and my family spends most weekends during the summer on the lake.

Don't neglect it and keep up with the maintenance and it's no problem. The most expensive part for me each year is the covered slip and lift at the marina.

This...

What lesson was that? That most buy a boat, cause its neat and then realize its not a maintenance free cheap hobby, and can't afford the operating costs?

And this, plus they don't take care of them, if they are having issues with the boat it is because it was neglected, which means they couldn't afford a boat and made a bad decision buying one. Now they are hating on boats for their bad decision...

It's a hobby, just like shooting is a hobby, every time an empty casing falls to the ground you have essentially flushed money, but you had a good time while you were doing it, very few are able to turn their hobbies into something that produce income.
