I had never heard of this stuff until a friend of mine gave me a bottle of it for a housewarming gift. I haven't even had a chance to try it yet. Of course, now that I see the price of it, I may have to go beat some sense into my friend. :-) I normally stick to Crown Royal, which looks to be about half the price of this stuff.

Whomever is doing the marketing for Beam is a moron. Booker's doesn't sell relative Makers, Basil, Knob, or Blantons. Now you're going to up the price and put out less?

Well, I'm assuming (we all know how that goes) that some number cruncher at Beam decided that there would be enough people willing to spend $100 on Bookers to ensure increased profitability despite the reduced supply. I don't know who those people are, seeing as I always thought Bookers was already over priced. That being said, taste is subjective and I know there are plenty of people who like it.

BTW I am a Pricing Analyst by trade so there maybe a ton of reasons why the price is increasing. However one thought of lore comes to mind. pappy van winkle
http://vinepair.com/wine-blog/whats-the-deal-with-pappy-van-winkle/

The "Pappy" phenomenon came to mind as well, but Bookers isn't an ultra aged type of bourbon. It's aged 7-8 years while the "Pappy" bourbons in the Van Winkle line are aged 15, 20, or 23 years. I'm not saying that the extra aging justifies such a high price tag, but it's at least SOME reason to buy a stupidly expensive bourbon. Bookers is simply reducing the supply and raising the price.

Booker's ain't Pappy.... not by a long shot. Pappy came by demand naturally, not artificially big difference. All Whiskys are flying off the shelves, it's the new thing for millennials to drink even the blue hair stuff like Dewars, J&B, Grouse. So basically, they will find something else/cheaper to drink.
