Anything mechwarrior, or battletech. I know there is novels out there. And how about "The Pedestrian" by Ray bradbury.

Sure, the WARRIOR trilogy would be good, but there is a problem. In order to really appreciate those movies, you have to have some background knowledge of that universe. The LoTR wouldn't have done so well if Jr. High English teachers hadn't been assigning The Hobbit for the last 50 years.
I'd like to see Eddings' Belgarion/Mallorean, or Ringo's Legacy of the Aldenata, but same problem. You could probably pull off Eddings' High Hunt though.

I'm gonna shake his hand and say,,,
"Nice job on King Kong!"

Then I'm gonna slap him to his knees and say,,,
"And that's for what you did to the Lord of the Rings!"

I've read those books at least once every two years since 1970,,,
He took some of the most beautiful literature ever penned,,,
And turned it into a video game action travesty.

I have never seen any movie adaptation that was true to the original book,,,
So I don't go into them with any great expectations,,,
But what Peter Jackson did to "The Trilogy",,,
Was nothing short of literary butchery.

The only thing that Paul Verhoeven got correct in Starship Troopers,,,
Was the connection of military (or some type) of service,,,
Being tied to you being a "citizen" who could vote.

I mean,,,
Mobile Infantry wore powered armor suits.
