Boy Comes Face-To-Face With Cougar In Southwest OKC

Hard to believe, but there are plenty of wild places around there. Why on earth would big cats get that close to civilization? The heat/drought maybe?

I heard the smaller animals,(prey) were seeking water because of the drought and the predators follow.

We had a Mt. Lion down in the Altus Area about 5+ years ago ..... Yep, he got away ......

Cat food, really? Those traps are going to be FULL of opossum and skunks.... wait, maybe that's the idea!, maybe they're trying to catch some real bait ;-)

This story lends a little more credence to a word of mouth story that my wife told me on the phone last night. Apparently, a guy we know that lives a mile down the road from us saw a mountain lion in his back yard last night. At first I didn't believe it, but now I'm more inclined to. It would explain some of the chilling screams I've heard at night. I guess I'd always assumed they came from a bobcat.
