IANAL, but can someone tell me how an out of state court can hold a company that never did business in that jurisdiction, sue someone there? I can't imagine that Armslist ever did business in Cook county???
If Armslist simply ignores the court, what can they actually do to them?
They can get a default judgment. Foreign judgments can be enforced if the proper steps are taken.
So do they collect on this judgement using the Commerce Clause somehow? Even if a judgement is entered, I fail to see how a private party in another state can recover damages if the company never does business withn that jurisdiction???
