No, I'm saying it probably wasn't. C4/ampho would have been much more damaging. Al-Queda would have likely been better funded and better organized with far more effective explosives.
This was on Patriot's day, and just because McVeigh targeted a federal building doesn't change the fact he killed 130+ people. Not every "Patriot" has a problem killing innocents, obviously.

That's actually exactly how jamming works; overwhelm the receiver with noise above the threshold of the receiver, not shut down the transmitter. Test messages require lower bandwidth and less power and can sometimes still be rcvd when regular calls are blocked. But that all depends on authorities using mobile jammers versus just getting the cell companies to shut down cell sites...or an overwhelmed system like you mentioned.
Probably a little bit of all of the above. EOD teams probably deployed mobile jammers while "exploiting" the site in hopes of preventing any secondaries set up for the express purpose of hitting first responders/investigators.
My bet is on crude, blackpowder or other simple device in a small package that could easily be deposited in trash cans without drawing attention. That area was full of security due to the race....but a passer-by dropping a large fast food bag into a can wouldn't draw any attention, or a backpack dropped on the ground in the middle of the crowd watching the race finish etc...
The blasts were small, casualties were light for an event like this. We got lucky.

We are down town for the marathon every year. You can never get out on your cell. They get overloaded.
The media acts as though they have been just dying to have another 9/11 type event to get all worked up over. Don't allow the news to cause you to get in a frenzy and panic.
Calm down a little, pray for the victims and their families and just remain ever vigilant and on the lookout for bad guys.
It doesn't make it any less terrorizing or painful to us here, but this type of thing went on constantly in the U.K. from the 70's to the 90's due to the I.R.A. It is NOT WWIII or some precursor to pandemonium and anarchy.

.It just seems like this was perpetrated by a smallish cell or person with limited knowledge/resources compared to previous attacks on the US. that leaves Islamic extremists or the rare extremist homegrown terrorist.
Exactly. That's why I think statements such as "The government has turned off cellular voice and data services" are totally baseless.
