I have a FEG and a Kareen. They are almost 100% interchangeable with true Hi Powers. In both cases I have found the safety hole on the left side of the frame to be undersized. If you wish to replace the safety you must either open up the hole on the frame or reduce the diameter of the safety.

Some on this forum will assert that clones don't count.

I like the fact that I can purchase a clone and build it up exactly how I want it while spending the funds that would only purchase an entry level browning.

Here are my two "not Hi Powers."

Hmmm, I did not know that about the safety lever hole. Luckily, mine is already more of an extended version, so I don't have to change it. Nice lookin' "Not Hi Powers"!

I've always chosen to file the safety down (rather than make the hole in the frame bigger). The reason is that I consider the extended thumb safety that is fitted to the later FEG P9M models to be the finest single-sided safety available (excepting, of course, the custom safeties of Don Williams). Then I could always change back to the original FEG safety if necessary. BTW, after owning ten Browning H-Ps, and another ten "clones", I can assure you that the clones are just fine. Colt built the first 1911s, but no one calls the Kimber, Springfield, Remington, or Rock Island made 1911s "clones".

Ran across this thread and noted you guys talking about what Hi Powers are worth. Mine is a like new FN wood grips blued probably made in the 80's or 90's. Just out of curiosity went over to ArmsList to see what everyone was talking about. Didn't see anything like mine for less than $900.00 most have a starting bid of a grand or better. Wow had no idea they had jumped that much in price over the last 20 years. I put a target trigger and night sights on it which may or may not effect what it is actually worth but really don't care as I'll never sell it. It lives in the bed room under a stuffed animal cocked and locked. Kinda a last defense position, Glock and 1911 are placed in first defense positions.
