I’m reading through these responses, and y’all need to tell me what parts of Oklahoma you’re going to need all this firepower so I can avoid them.🤣

I travel to Enid and beyond twice a week. The folks out west are scary😁.
I carry the extra Pistol/Rifle in case I get stranded somewhere I do not know.

Those with ‘truck guns’ how do you secure them? I would hate to have a firearm stolen in a vehicle breakin while shopping etc.
Mine is secured and out of sight. My vehicle is always locked with no visible valuables and rarely sits without me in it or a straight site line to it.

As others mentioned I’d vote upscale to a 9mm with better capacity. Stoke it up with 9mm+p,.. consider the .380 a back up

For the whole long gun in the vehicle deal, something like a $200 pump shotgun with a 18”-20” barrel would be perfect. Keep it concealed/secured as possible, but no major loss if stolen.

Take down pistol caliber carbines also are a great option for when way out in BFE and might need to actually use firepower for more than just a “get off me” type assault situation

I started "carrying heavy" for travel during the riots. Never know when or where that **** might pop up again, and twice I ended up traveling too close for comfort to two incidents that made the news, within 24hrs of the incident happening.

Honestly that "where are you going" or "what are you afraid of" mentality is the same thing the antigunners say about carrying in general.

"Two is one, and one is none" ;)

To OP: As mentioned 380 is my backup just in case caliber. My EDC is a Glock 30s 45acp or Glock 19 depending on the situation.

It's funny you mention BFE areas is your concern, mine are just the opposite. I live and work in western Ok. typically BFE and never have worried about much. Now if I travel to OKC then that's when I have my EDC, a backup handgun, a AR in my vehicle, and. a breakdown PCC carbine in my carrybag to take in at night. I guess it all depends on what you perceive as a high risk area.

As once told to me by a firearms instructor many moons ago. "A handgun is used to defend yourself while you get to a rifle or shotgun"

First off, I’m the last person that needs a lecture on preparedness especially involving firearms, and second, I think trying to avoid a known dangerous area is just common sense.
Depending on where I’m going, I either carry a Glock 30s or a Smith 342, and I ALWAYS have either an AR or my combo gun in my truck and both on road trips. During hunting season, there’s a Benelli or Beretta semi auto 12 in the truck too.

"Ghetto-Mart" , the "War Zone", inside City Limits of Lawton, after dark. All pose probably of adverse events.

When I go check horses, I am 16 miles from town / home. I have seen mountain lion, hogs, wild dogs on the property.
Me t h heads and pot growers are in the area. Several people have stopped on back roads and robbed, some beaten badly. In this area, LE is an hour away, when seconds count.
