If this were a scene in a movie and it was supposed to draw laughter then I would say it is hilarious. But this appears to be a real world death which is NEVER funny.
The guys was impatient and incredibly stupid. Sad deal. They do need to strengthen those doors.
Any death is sad, but one deserving of a Darwin Award is okay to laugh at. That guy died, I feel bad for his family, but there is no way I'm feeling bad about chuckling at his stupidity. He knew there was nothing on the other side of that door; it was glass. That idiot got inpatient and did something ridiculous and stupid and now he's dead. Just as I don't feel sad when a criminal gets killed trying to rob a house, I don't feel bad when an idiot does something idiotic and pays for it.

I don't see why people shouldn't be allowed to laugh at that. That was literally one of the stupidest things I have EVER seen... and believe me, in my line of work I see a ton of stupid things done by a ton of stupid people.
That guy 'bumped' the door the first time, knowing full-well he wasn't going to make it before it closed. Then, he backs up and rams his motorized scooter (not a wheelchair) which weighs several hundred pounds (try picking one of those things up) into the doors of the elevator, not just denting them as reported but actually BREAKING the metal doors and knocking them out of the frame.
Then he backs up, and again DELIBERATELY rams the noticeably-hanging-by-a-thread already-broken doors, falling through and to his death.
This guy is absolutely guaranteed a spot in the Darwin Awards Top Ten for this year.
Do I feel sorry for him... not a whit. I am sorry for his family, but this is like the guy who jumps into the rhino or tiger or gorilla cage at the zoo as a prank. You got what you deserved, and I hope you didn't pass that on to any offspring beforehand.
