Awesome! I am the cleaner in my house, and I am looking forward to going home tonight and trying some of these out. Is that sad? hahah
We've been making our own laundry detergent for a while now and are very happy with it. We use Ivory "Simply Ivory" bar soap (30 bars, grated), washing soda (3 boxes), and borax (3 boxes) mixed in a 5-gallon bucket. You only use 1 TBSP per load and it does a great job. We did one batch with a tub of oxy-clean in it, but didn't really seem to notice much difference. You can do a small "test batch" to see if you like it with 1 bar Ivory soap, 1 cup washing soda, and 1 cup borax. The only thing we've noticed is that it doesn't dissolve well in cold water (just like pretty much every other powdered detergent out there) but if you grate the soap extra fine it dissolves very quickly in even warm water.
Some people like to substitute Fels Naptha soap, at least for a small batch, for the extra dirty laundry, but we haven't seen the need (and we have 3 kids).
