Colion Noir did an excellent job refuting the NJ governors so called common sense gun laws. I would add
1) Criminals don't obey laws in the first place
2) When criminals are caught violating existing gun laws they are not prosecuted
3) States with fewer gun restrictions have lower crime rates overall
As Colion stated the whole gun control debate isn't about safety, it's about control and power.

I have a tough time trusting anyone's assessment of what a reasonably mature individual can be trusted with if they don't even trust their constituents to pump their own gas.
As far as that goes, I can assure you (as a former resident of New Jersey) that the greatest resistance to self-serve gas in New Jersey historically has been from the gas station owner's lobby. When labor costs were cheap and there were always people looking for work (especially teens looking for a part time job) full service was cheaper because the labor costs were less than the insurance costs. Now that they're struggling to find people willing to pump gas for pay, the gas station owner's lobby has changed their tune on self-service.

Oh, I get it and have heard similar explanations in the past. I just enjoy tossing it out there as a humorous jab at NJ and OR.
