Thanks for the compliments Terry.

Hotchkiss/Paonia is a great area. I love Paonia cherries and apricots.
We have relatives and friends in the area as well.

If you ever get the chance, check out the Marble/Crystal region.
4x4 or ATV's are a must.
SO much to see in that area.

Thunderstorm in Holly
i494.photobucket.com_albums_rr303_reddirt96_DSCF1123.jpg

I was working in Springfield and staying in Lamar a few years ago when the tornado tore up Holly. Killed a young mother, they found her in a tree in her front yard. I drove past just before it hit. This is the storm, it got a bit stronger after this pic. And my pics don't even approach you guys.

Thanks for posting Shadowrider.
It seems like that area gets storms every afternoon like clockwork in the summer.
We always stay in Holly coming and going on vacation and have a few friends there.
They still talk about that storm. Really flattened part of that town.

Shadowrider,

Do you get back up there on occasion? If you do, there is a site just west of Grenada (east of Lamar on Highway 50) that was the site of one of the Japanese Internment camps back during WWII. It is a national monument, although I don't think they have rebuilt any of it. However, one can still see the streets and foundations of the buildings. It was called Amache. Amache National Monument

Grenada War Relocation Center

I took an interest in it, but haven't visited it yet, after we had seen the Minidoka center in Idaho back in 2014. I would imagine that Grenada's buildings looked similar to those at Minidoka. Yeah, I know these next photos aren't of Colorado, but I still like showing them. At Minidoka, they are going out and finding some of the original buildings that were sold to local residents and putting them back at Minidoka. Unlike Amache, Minidoka is being rebuilt, and they may eventually rebuild Amache.

Thanks, Uncle Meat. We don't have an ATV, so we'll have to wait for our nephew to return from working overseas. He has a Jeep Rubicon that is modified for more extreme off road ventures. We do have a Ford Expedition with 4WD, but I don't think it would be good for the areas you are listing there.
