Attack them, overwhelm them, and do whatever is necessary to protect your people. Hopefully you will be able to scavenge enough off the dead to resupply the ammunition that you expended in the attack. OR............Run! It may seem like war but make no doubt that it is pure survival. Run away and live to fight another day. Besides being part of a group that is large enough to attract the attention of another group might not be such a good idea for awhile. One solution is to keep your group small enough to be able to easily move, yet large enough to have a "bite" if you get messed with. Save your ammo for the times when your life directly threatened. Let the large groups go to "war" and kill each other off. In the meantime you can live in the shadows, saving the precious ammo in your firearm and magazine pouches. Your choice of course.
