I got tested all the time when I was on active duty. I think I remember some of the civilians getting tested as well.

I have only been drug tested one time and that was for a civilian job ... and I will never do it again. If they need a drug test from me, I don't need to work for them. :grumble: I was just curious because the state never tested me (not even during the pre-employment screening) and I have never met a state or federal employee who had been tested after they started to work. Thought maybe it was just an urban myth ... guess not.

I'm a contractor, but the group (civilians) that I supports have been getting word that frequent drug screening is on its way.

I remember the first time I ever got drug tested, for a civilian job way before I went in the Navy. It didn't really bug me terribly bad, but I was uneasy with it.

After 6 years in the Navy and a 100 or so meat gaze sessions later though, I just don't care anymore.

Pick up the cup, and place your ID in the cups space.
Remove the lid from the cup, look in the cup, do not blow in the cup.
Verify the cup is empty, place the lid back on the cup.
Do you agree that the cup is empty?
If so, hold the cup over your right shoulder and proceed to the head.
Keep the cup within my eyesight at all times.

I remember the guys I worked with at the shipyards had to do random drug tests.

If I had a choice, though, I'd still rather those bozos not have to if welfare recipients DID have to to receive welfare.
