Copperhead down

Was driving up our road today and thought I ran over a stick. Came back down mowing a couple hours later and the stick turned out to be a copperhead. Pretty fat and they are in breeding/laying season right now. Don't know if it was well fed or pregnant.
Love having snakes around the house/barn, but will not miss this one.

Sorry bud, but it is not breeding season, spring is breeding season.. Copperheads give live birth so it is not laying season either.. Copperheads are a husky built snake, natures design.. Reptiles and amphibians that are carrying eggs or live young are known as gravid and not pregnant.. The term pregnant applies to warm blooded creatures, gravid to the cold blooded world..

Yes, it is the time of year they usually give birth. Late August or early September and sometimes even as late as October.
