Crank Operated Emergency Radio

Love the crank radios and shake type flashlights - with one hard and fast rule about them. Neither are allowed anywhere near my airplane as they can throw the compass off by several degrees. In a SHTF scenario or other emergency, it may very well be the only navigation I have.

I bring this up for those of you who may have orientering as a feather in your proverbial survival cap. just remember that the magnets used in these devices (they're just little stator coils) WILL throw the delicate needle of a compass off when in close proximity.

I have the C. Crane Solar Observer. It can run off batteries, 110, the crank dynamo or its little solar panel. I'm quite pleased.

I just got that same one to keep in my bug out kit that sits in my storm shelter...pretty nice lil radio.
