There are many people who say this won't effect us and the senate will never ratify this. That might be right if our government had not gone to the dogs and put the most anti-american president in power with no check on what he does ( de facto amnesty anyone, drone stikes on us citizens)

Thats what Stalin said too.... Now we're making the same argument every other country that has opposed UN has made...

Of course, you have conveniently forgotten that Stalin did not rule by the consent of the governed but rather by dictatorship. He didn't even attain office via internally (i.e within the USSR) legal means - rather he attained power by force and then show/sham legal procedures followed as window dressing. So, while anyone and everyone can make the same argument it remains with the listener to discern who has credibility and who does not.

For clarity, the Senate does not ratify anything. It gives "advice and consent" (67 votes). The POTUS is the one that ratifies treaties.

The media used to use the phrase "the senate has to ratify the treaty". Regardless of word play, the treaty has to go thru the senate and get their blessing. Right now there are several treaties that past presidents have signed, and the senate has yet to ok them.
