I've said many times moderate republicans are Democrats from 20 years ago, same for west coast Republicans which is one reason I don't like out of state folks moving to Oklahoma. I've met very few I would call real conservatives , people get butt hurt when you say it but the truth is the truth.


Many of the really old school Democrats who used to run things in this state were way more conservative than most of our current Republicans are and in some ways protected the state more than our current batch does , not in every way mind you but in many ways. They also did some damage economically in some of their efforts but as I get older I appreciate some of their efforts to keep outsiders from becoming an influence in the state as well. Its just a shame they weren't more pro 2a .

I definitely don't like Stitt courting the Mexican government and now wanting to give illegals drivers licenses and I don't like them courting more outsiders either.

Most of the Old School Democrats were tied to the New York Mafia, were they not, the ones that were in office thru the 50-60's before term limits, mostly from McAlester area, some from Tulsa area. Back when the State was a major player in the Oil Industry. The ones I remember were fading out in the 70's when both sides were still leaning 2A. People took guns to school for show and tell, there were national assemblies with gun demonstrations that went from school to school, they taught gun safety in school. In case of Nuclear war you got under your desk and put your head between your knee's, Excellent time to pray, and check to see if you wiped good. Oh yeah Gene Stipe and Carl Albert were the King pins.
