I have never been delayed. I always get put on hold when they call in, but then they come back in 5 minutes and approve it. Before I registered an NFA item it was always automatic, now they always put on hold, do not know if the two are related but that's how it worked out.

Having your rights treated like a privilege is a hell of a thing. I get delayed from time to time too. The first time it started happening a couple years ago, I fixed it by grudgingly putting my SSN on the 4473. It stopped for a while, but the last two I bought were delayed even with the SSN. I have no idea why they would delay me, unless maybe they read my forum posts and don't like the things I have to say about the federal government :wink2:

MAkes even less sense now!

Picked up my pistol at SGT Everett's today. No issues. Took me longer to fill out paperwork than for them to get the proceed.

And nothing from Academy.

But Damn I am happy with this pistol.

Just my take on it, but Academy is in the gun bidness because of the money, not for any love--or aptitude--they have for guns in general. As for the small businessman who is in the gun bidness, you can bet your bottom dollar he enjoys what he's doing. He'd better be, for he's not gonna make a whole lot of money selling guns.

Kind of along the lines of what I was thinking too, but if you are in the business, be in the business.

I was and have been thinking the guy at the gun counter fat fingered something and/or he didn't like his job. I know where I am not buying guns anymore. PSA will get more business, but I like the small shops better. Of course price does make a difference and if it is not a lot of difference will shop small first.

During a pistol purchase a few months ago, I got delayed fit the first time in 15 years. No apparent reason for it. I'm not real patient when iit comes to new toys but there's nothing you can do about it. 3 days later I walked in and the owner said I was cleared but he had forgot to call and let me know. Now that psssed me off. This was at a small local shop too, not a big box store. In fact ive bought several guns from the big stores without any delays.

Some say you're more likely to get flagged during an afternoon purchase because they are more busy then. Dont know if there's any truth to it though.

I drove all the way to Purcell when the glock 43 came out because a guy I know had some in. I got there and bought it and did my nics check and got a delay. First time ever. Man was I pissed. Drove all the way from Shawnee and didn't even get to leave with it. While I was on my way back home I got a text from my gun guy and was told that he just got the proceed. It was less than 2 hours. But I was almost home. So I guess they must have went to lunch and didn't feel like doing my check at that time. Because it was around 12 when I did it. And it was after one when he was given the proceed. Idiots. Oh and by the way, I have nothing on my record.

Happens all the time, you aren't special. I wonder how many $ in sales we have missed out on because of delays that are cleared within a couple hours.

I'm sure I'm going to jinx myself, but so far I have never been delayed. In fact, the last time I bought a gun the chic that entered my paperwork was shocked that my approval came back so fast. She said she had never seen it cone back so fast before.
