Recently I purchase a AR pistol from a board member so I would be able to respond to a terrorist attack or the like.
Now after thinking about it the truth is they would have to attack my couch for me to even be in a position to respond and first they would need to wake me up and give me time to shuffle to the gun safe to get it.
I haven't fired a Shot in 4-5 years but still strap on the 9mm for a trip to the drive thru or a 380 in the pocket for Dr appointments.
Am I alone or are there other has beens out there?

I know the feeling. I do not shoot or train anywhere near enough to be anything but an easy target. I just sent my membership check on Monday for Oil Capital which is much closer to my home. I plan/hope to start weekly range trips this weekend. I need to work on proficiency, accuracy, and fitness. These are the goals I have set for 2025.

I'd say you are in the majority here. I might shoot 200 rounds at the range once every couple of months at a stationary target. Many of us imagine ourselves to be warriors but most of us never have and never will fire a shot in defense of ourselves or others. I started to make a similar comment the other day in reply to a post from a guy asking about carrying 2 guns. We do watch a lot of tv and have a vivid imagination.

Don't feel bad, I can shoot right here at the house and still shoot very very little. Have a small burm for pistols, and bench and able to shoot 50-400y with a rifle. Every few days I shoot a few rounds out of my EDC and backup pistol and that's about it. If I had to drive somewhere to shootbi probably never would.

Home defense AR shouldn’t be locked in a safe. I keep mine hidden out of sight but quickly able to grab. I keep it with a loaded mag but an empty chamber.

I’m sorry you’ve been unable to shoot to for a few years now! Keep on bringing along your 9mm or .380 though.. you know how life is, and the day you get complacent and don’t carry would be the day something would happen

If only there was a sport that involved running, shooting both. Maybe rucking your gear from one spot to another to engage targets.

Nah.....that'd be hard.
I agree, but if I recall from other posts by Mr saddlebum, I believe he’s got some bad cancer and is advanced in years
