don't get me wrong i used to could eat hay and pull a wagon . I've had many hours of firearms training in the last 40 years or so. I even fought Doctor death Steve Williams in the parking lot of Sugar's when I was 24 years old.....it didn't go well.
eventually you figure out time has past and you aren't ever going to be that guy again. I still work If you can call what I do work. but that's pretty much all I have energy for now a days

Hell ya brother.....safes are for puhsees!.... I just hide everything around the house and get the kids ready for another run of Hunger Games. May the odds ever be in their favor!

Glad I'm not the only one.
Well I can kinda see where he’s coming from, especially if we’re talking about inexpensive safes that can be opened up with a battery grinder in short time.

Personally I do keep most of my guns in the safe, never my defensive guns though. My kids don’t know where they’re stashed.

I do keep a couple revolvers in lock boxes that only my oldest kid knows the code to open. Just in case something goes down when they’re home alone.

Last year's shoulder surgery left me not being able to shoot most of the year and then when I started shooting late August I found most everything save 5.56 to anger my repaired shoulder mightily. So while I have been shooting a few times its been only with small calibers and a handful of times. Sometimes a man has to know his limitations and I am getting acquainted with mine as I mature more.

There's an easy solution to that..... don't order your safes from Wish.

I view firearms and availability like this, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Carrying is smart, so is having a couch gun. I have several things to compensate for surprises, doorbell cam, outdoor cameras, alarm system. Those items help to give a bit longer notice than not having them.

As for practice lets face it, range time and ammo can get very expensive. Classes are the same, some require 400 to 800 rds of ammo and may not be close.

Practice when you can. Practice drawing from a holster (hiding spot or in your car or couch location) and dry firing.

Also, attackers rarely take the time to train, they may have far less experience than you. So in many cases, a person who practices drawing, dryfiring or practices at the range has a bit of an edge.

Home defense AR shouldn’t be locked in a safe. I keep mine hidden out of sight but quickly able to grab. I keep it with a loaded mag but an empty chamber.

I’m sorry you’ve been unable to shoot to for a few years now! Keep on bringing along your 9mm or .380 though.. you know how life is, and the day you get complacent and don’t carry would be the day something would happen
I agree I keep a ar loaded with a thermal mounted on it very near to my couch. Also a loaded 12ga with buckshot right by my bed, a Glock 19 on my couch. Can never be to ready.

My opinion, if I ever decide to own a gun.

First off you can’t shoot one if it’s not in your possession so don’t sweat the carry pistols.

I’d also ‘probably’ keep a rifle handy just in case the aliens invade.
Damn invaders.
Every now and then you have to grab yer rifle and run outside...if yer the only one, it's not time.

Yes. I spent days researching before purchasing a safe. Glad I didn't just go out and buy one on sale. I ended up spending quite a bit more than planned, but feel pretty confident it doesn't make it convenient for thieves. Unfortunately due to a tragic boating accident the safe and guns reside underwater.
