The spammer got me thinking about headphones. Seeing as how I cut my teeth in the audio industry, I have had quite a few sets of quality headphones. Bose sucks it. and they suck hard. MB Quart used to make the best, but they are not making headphones anymore, which is a true shame. I am currently using B&W P5s, which are ridiculously nice. When I want some crazy bass, I use my SkullCandys with the built in subwoofer, those boom, but the B&Ws are much better in terms of sound quality. The skullcandys are great for mowing the lawn.

What do ya'll use?

Yeah, the B&Ws are pricey, but I gotta have 'em. You will pay twice that for the bose and other than noise cancelling, they suck. I find it interesting that the one thing bose does well is eliminate sound. The old saying goes "no highs, no lows, must be bose"

Beater cans - Sennheiser HD280... I use them even when mowing the lawn (great hearing protection, too)

Leisure cans - Beyerdynamic DT 880... comfortable, excellent value

Eargasm cans - Sennheiser HD 800... no really, I got to listen through a pair of these once. I suddenly found problems with my beloved HD280 pair.

I've never found in-ears that I really liked, but I haven't spent much there either because fit can make a huge difference. So if anyone has some good starting points, I might go and actually get fitted.

I like my Sennheiser HD700's for music and movies. Sennheiser HD280's for tv. The apple iPod buds work fine for the iPod, I was seriously surprised by both the audio full range quality and the horrendous non-comfort in them. Turtle Beach cheapies for the xbox pwning...

If I could find them somewhere I have a decent set of over the ear Sennheiser's that were made before they got bought out ( by Creative Labs i think?)
My favorite earbuds was Etymotic ER6 which I literally wore out and they dont make any more

A cheap pair of Sony headphones. however, B&W makes headphones now? wow! I had their DM2a "bookshelf"* BBC reference speakers back in the '70s. They were the best speakers I've ever owned. I bought them in Singapore when I was in the Navy-got them for half of what they were going for here.

*(If your bookshelf could support speakers that weighed 52 lbs. each.)

My ears are so blown out by gunfire, loud exhausts (at work & at home) and other selfinflicted damage. I just wear the $5 ones. They generally end up confiscated by a grandchild anyway.
