Do y’all have a favorite load for 38special?

I have some 231 so that would be easy to make.

This target is with 4.5gr. POA is the bottom of the dot.

I lowered the charge to 4.3gr, it brought the POI up to center. I don't have any pics of that load, more's the pity.

Sure. Just find a powder that gives you a low enough velocity that you can work up. The Lyman Cast Bullet handbook is a good load reference. You’d have to adjust your powder weight a little for the plated projectiles.

Plated bullets usually work good with cast lead loads.

I forget the powder charge but I loaded some 38 spec cased cowboy loads using some Missouri Bullets 140 gr SWC lead with some Trail Boss powder for my wife to practice with in her SP101 special edition with the 2” barrel at about 850 fps. Magnum loads are pretty sharp recoil in this thing, pleasure to shoot now. The 1lb can loaded 500 and can easily do another 700 to 800 more with what’s left over.
