No it does not. Sorry but it is the truth. You can't get onto a plane and yell "I have a bomb" in mid-flight. You'll get arrested when you land. You can't always say what you want when the urge strikes. Freedom of speech is only free when it doesn't insight panic, or create the potential for harm to someone else.

^^^ this. Also you can say what you want, but there can be consequences. We can freely talk about how we don't like how this country is ran and that is ok. But make a threat on the presidents life and see if you don't get into trouble.

You can beat someone up for saying something you don't agree with, and he is protected under the assault and battery laws. Not the first amendment.

No, it does not, like higginmw said. Furthermore any protection it offers only extends to the government and agents thereof.

It does not protect you from actions taken by private individuals and/or employers either.

I believe the courts have held that there are levels of protected speech. Also, 'protection' mostly protects one from the government but does also protect you from businesses and other citizens.

Political speech is the most highly protected form of speech and i believe speech meant to solely incite is the least protected (things like 'fire in the crowded theater' and such)

Obviously, there is a lot of grey area and overlap that some people will never agree upon.

It definitely does.

Just this afternoon I told my boss his wife was a whore. He was gonna assault me until I reminded him of the whole freedom of speech thing. I think we're OK now that he understands all about the constitution and stuff. After that, he told me to go to not bother coming back this afternoon, so I went down to Subway at the mall to eat some lunch. When that foreign guy at the counter didn't give me a discount for being a veteran I called his wife a whore, then beat his @$$.
