Nope. No connection to Dick's at all.

Just getting a giggle out of the "I've gotta take a stand" thing from people who still do business with other stores that caved to pressure in the past, like Walmart.

Walmart still sells handguns and when they pulled them from the stores, they still offered them through the catalog. Dick's pulled them entirely and when they realized the .gov wasn't going to get their way, they tried to reverse course and act like nothing happened..

There are plenty of Dick lovers to keep their stores afloat.

What Walmart do you go to that sells handguns? I haven't seen a handgun at a walmart in the lower 48 for decades.

IRRC, Dick's only pulled ARs off the shelf....

Alaska. And yes, they only pulled the evil black guns from the shelf. Not really sure what your fascination is with people making choices on what they believe in. It may not align with your beliefs, but why do you really give a chit?

And from what I have read, Walmart pulled handguns from the lower 48 because of several lawsuits and the fact they had incompetent people selling them.

If it brings you a little comfort, I could careless if Walmart pulled guns entirely. I don't shop at Walmart for my firearms and rarely buy ammo from them. I don't consider Walmart a sporting goods store that caters to the hunting and shooting community. Cabelas and Bass Pro are stores I consider business' that cater to the shooting community. Dick's could drop firearms entirely and I could give two chits. My problem was when they tried to politicize their decision based on some deranged mentally unstable idiot that chose to shoot up a school full of children.

as was said. dicks never stopped selling guns. they just never really catered to the whole mall ninja thing allot of other stores tried to do. their prices on firearms isnt a huge markup. if they dont have a gun in stock they can order them if you take your time and read through the catalogs. their ammo prices havent been increased like the LGS's. they may open the bulk packs of ammo to sell as singles like all the stores do. but they arnt charging 20 cents a round like many do as well. the last time i bought some ammo at dicks it was blazer 22lr at 3 bucks a box of 50. the bulk pack of Remington i bought 6 months or so ago was 26 bucks or 5 cents a rnd. compare this to sports world which sold their 50rnd packs of 22lr blazer for 3.99 or 8 cents a round.

its a matter of shopping smart though. buy at dicks if its the best price. i may not buy much at dicks. but when they have sales on 12ga for 5 bucks a box for gun clubs ill buy a couple cases. and i will also hit the stores every so often on friday mornings and see if they have any 22.

Why do you give a chit as well? I don't mind people making choices and I don't give a sh$t what happens in Alaska. Alaska and it's less than 1 million residents aren't relevant to this discussion. I'm commenting on the hypocrisy of declaring one is nobly taking a stand against Dicks when other popular stores, and manufacturers, have and continue to do the same thing you accuse Dick's of doing. (That's what we do here right? We talk about stuff...otherwise WTF are you doing here?)

Walmart pulled handguns after a spate of shootings, including one high profile shooting in which a deranged idiot used a handgun purchased from Walmart. They dressed it as a marketing/streamlining thing, but the shootings were the real direct cause....which is even worse. They tried to cover up the reason and many people, like you apparently, bought it hook, line, and sinker.

Cabelas, Academy and other major retailers pulled certain guns from their shelves in CT after the shooting as well, do you still shop at any of them? Ever bought a Ruger? Own a Smith and Wesson?

Go ahead and "make your choices" but spare us the holier-than-thou "making a stand" angle unless you are willing to apply the same standard to any and all retailers who have made anti-gun marketing decisions in the wake of shootings and/or under political pressure.
