Actually, I saw this in a movie called "Midnight Express". Movie from the 80's. Never bothered to research it. Is it true?
I didn't say it was legal, I just said it wasn't a felony. Don't go around stabbing people in the ass. That's wrong and I think we can all agree that it's wrong
I don't know if it is true. I never saw the movie and have no expertise in legal matters regarding stabbing a man in the ass.
How did this thread go from a discussion about an international incident involving mortars and counter-strikes to a debate about the ethics of poking a guy in the butt?
I never heard that one when I was stationed there. Here's a small, incomplete list of things we were told or seen:
1 - Don't say anything bad about Ataturk or their flag, or you will find yourself in a Turkish prison. (True)
2 - I heard they can let their wife work off any debts they (the man) may incur at the Karihani (brothel) and then they don't have to take them back afterwards. (Hearsay)
3 - It was said they can turn their children over to the state if they're too poor to raise them and then get them back when they're old enough to work. (Hearsay)
4 - They clean their behinds with their left hand instead of using paper. (True)
5 - Don't get in an accident there if you're an American, you're automatically to blame. If you killed an animal you will pay for it and anything it could have produced, including offspring. (True)
6 - They fold the heel of their shoes down so the heel of their foot is exposed. (True) It is said Ataturk will return as a cat and scratch the heel of his successor.
7 - They wear pants similar to the old MC Hammer variety. (True) Our slang for them was: 7 Day Sh*tters. We heard they poop in them for 7 days during Ramadan and then look for signs of Allah in it. (Hearsay)
8 - I personally saw the conscripts line up in 2 lines facing each other while one unlucky, or unruly, conscript crawled on his hands and knees while the others beat him silly with the butts of their rifles. (True)
Fun place.
They've got a bunch of different laws over there. I think the legal theory has something to do with the fact that if you stab a man in the ass you don't mean him any serious harm.
Books and Haze need to weigh in on this.
That one made me laugh. It's probably crazy enough to be true though.

I'm fairly sure this is standard practice in any foreign country.
My connection is too slow to watch video, but that has to be the funniest thing I've never seen, and it has a lot of competition.
